LAUNCH OF TWAEA'S 2022 THAI LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST

Facing the challenge of international competition, globalization is reshaping global value chains through rising demand and new industry capabilities in Southeast Asia. Taiwan’s regional strategy for Asia, New Southbound Policy, has become a key facilitator to integrate with the world. In order to achieve the policy goals, the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) has cooperated with the well-known Thai university, the Prince of Songkla University (PSU), on implementing Thai language proficiency test in Taiwan. The purpose of this cooperation is to promote bilateral culture and academic exchange between Taiwan and Thailand, and to lay a solid foundation for future dialogue on educational assessment and research.

In 2022, TWAEA becomes the authorized Thai language proficiency test center of Prince of Songkhla University in Taiwan. The Proficiency Test of Thai as a Foreign Language is developed by the Songklanakarin Thai Language Centre, PSU, to assess Thai language proficiency in speaking, reading, listening and writing skills. Applicants may use the test results to fulfill admission requirements as outlined by Thai education institutions and enterprises as well as to assess their Thai language efficiency skills for personal improvement.

The Thai language proficiency test (Speaking Test) will be held on February 26th-27th, 2022 (Saturday and Sunday). The registration period is scheduled from January 2nd to February 4th, 2022 (Limited to 20 test takers). The speaking test will be conducted online with a professional Thai examiners through a more convenient and effective method. With a relatively affordable application fee, this proficiency test is expected to improve Thai language skills, especially as it pertains to global competence. Obtaining the Thai language proficiency test certificate is conducive not only to studying and employment in Thailand, but also to engaging in Thai language teaching and other related jobs in Taiwan. This test is the best proof of Thai language proficiency for those who want to assess their Thai language communication skills.

TWAEA has worked hard to promote the professional knowledge and skill related to accreditation and also the provision of accreditation services. To enhance the quality in higher education is always the mission of TWAEA. In recent years, TWAEA not only has started to join the members of the international accreditation organizations, but also worked closely with professional associations in Japan, Thailand, Europe, Russia, New Zealand, Croatia, Hong Kong and Macau for further cooperation.
