Aligning with International Quality Standards｜Advancing Cross-Regional Research｜Strengthening Global Professional Connections
The International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) is a leading global professional network for higher education quality assurance, bringing together quality assurance agencies, higher education institutions, and other relevant organizations worldwide. Through member engagement, international dialogue, research and publications, capacity building, and professional development, INQAAHE facilitates the exchange of quality assurance policies and practices across countries and regions. Its international standards and guidelines also support the professionalization and continuous enhancement of external quality assurance systems.
TWAEA joined INQAAHE in 2011, becoming part of the global higher education quality assurance community. Since 2019, it has regularly shared institutional developments, major activities, and international cooperation outcomes through the INQAAHE Bulletin, thereby enhancing the international visibility of Taiwan’s experience in higher education quality assurance.
During 2019–2020, a cross-regional survey on student learning outcomes and satisfaction, jointly proposed by TWAEA, the Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA), and Thailand’s Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA), received support under the INQAAHE Funding Scheme. Drawing on comparative perspectives and empirical data, the initiative deepened understanding of student learning experiences across different higher education systems and laid a foundation for continued cross-regional research and quality assurance cooperation.
TWAEA subsequently undertook a comprehensive self-assessment against the INQAAHE International Standards and Guidelines (ISG), systematically reviewing its organizational governance, quality assurance framework, review procedures, stakeholder engagement, and mechanisms for continuous improvement. In 2024, TWAEA received ISG recognition, demonstrating that its professional operations and external quality assurance practices align with international standards. This achievement also provides a strong foundation for further institutional enhancement and deeper global collaboration.
