TWAEA is collaborating with the Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA) and Thailand's Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA) to promote an international internship program. This initiative aims to allow staffs from the three organizations to engage deeply in various evaluation processes and understand the higher education evaluation systems and practices in Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand. The first exchange activity, hosted by TWAEA, included an online orientation held on August 17, 2023.

In 2020, due to the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the trilateral exchange between Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan was held online for the first time. The event continued in a virtual format in 2023 and successfully concluded on March 28. This year's discussions focused on the theme of "Raising Public Awareness of Evaluation and Enhancing the Value of QA Agencies," with representatives from all three parties sharing their internal research findings.

With the easing of the pandemic and the reopening of borders in 2023, the Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA) arranged a visit to Taiwan from March 7 to 10. During this visit, Director Jun Kudo and Section Chief Kazuyo Hara represented JUAA in close discussions with TWAEA regarding the iJAS international joint accreditation project and future collaboration initiatives.

As the global COVID-19 pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus continues to spread, the 8th trilateral staff exchange among TWAEA, JUAA, and ONESQA was once again held as an online seminar. The discussion focused on the development of human resources in quality assurance agencies and strategies for implementation.

The annual trilateral staff exchange program, hosted in rotation by TWAEA, JUAA, and ONESQA, was held online in 2021 via virtual conferencing. The theme for this session was "Quality Assurance Systems: A Review of 2020 and Future Outlook." This year, ASHE (Croatian Agency for Science and Higher Education) was specially invited to participate. Representatives from each organization shared how to adapt the evaluation processes in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, aiming to drive new developments in quality assurance systems for 2021.

The annual trilateral staff exchange program, hosted in rotation by TWAEA, JUAA, and ONESQA, continued to be held online in 2020 via virtual conferencing. The theme of this session was "Reviewer Training and Evaluation Mechanisms." Representatives from each organization shared their experiences in training preparation, course design, trainer development, and feedback assessments. A key focus of the discussion was how, in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, each agency adapted its training programs to minimize physical contact and reduce staff mobility while maintaining the effectiveness of reviewer training.

The Taiwan-Thailand-Japan professional QA agency staff exchange, originally scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, in March 2020, was impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic. In response, after active coordination and adjustments by the three organizations, the event was successfully conducted online for the first time via virtual conferencing, ensuring that exchange and collaboration continued without interruption.

Amid the transformation of Thailand’s education authorities and the urgent need to understand practical education and quality assurance systems, TWAEA specially arranged a visit on September 17, 2019, for representatives from the former Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), Thailand, to Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. Through the campus tour, the delegation gained firsthand insights into Taiwan’s technical and vocational education system, particularly its applied learning approach and institutional characteristics.

On behalf of TWAEA, Chairman Dr. Shen-Li Fu welcomed the Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General of Akita International University, Japan, during their visit. The meeting focused on discussions regarding the follow-up procedures for Taiwan-Japan international joint accreditation.

The event focused on the theme of "University Standards." Representatives from JUAA and TWAEA engaged in thematic discussions on university evaluation criteria, followed by in-depth dialogues on evaluation methods and future challenges in higher education accreditation. On the second day, the delegation visited China University of Technology and the Accreditation of Chinese Collegiate School of Business (ACCSB). This visit provided JUAA representatives with a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s professional accreditation mechanisms and the talent cultivation strategies of technical and vocational institutions.
